Ville de GatineauComposting

Gatineau collects compostable materials throughout its territory from single family and semi-detached homes, as well as from multiple unit buildings with eight units or less with curbside collection. Thanks to this new service, the city can expect to eventually divert 29,000 metric tonnes from the landfill site every year…one more step towards protecting the environment!

Compostable materials are collected once a week from January through December on the same day as regular garbage. Click here to check your collection schedule.

Although Gatineau has introduced a compostable materials collection service, you can still compost at home with a domestic composter. However, with this new collection, Gatineau composts materials such as dairy, meat, poultry and fish, which you cannot do with domestic composting.
