Ville de GatineauMicrofilms

Are you looking for the microfilm collection?

The microfilm collection is stored at the Archives de la Ville de Gatineau*. You will find everything in one location: the archives, help from experts, and leading edge microfilm readers. These readers normally make it easy to switch quickly from one page to the next, to automatically focus, and to save a copy of your documents on a USB key.

* Gatineau municipal library documents that are on microfilm are located in the Archives to preserve them for several generations. The library cannot provide a storage area with controlled temperatures and humidity like the Archives can, so many of our microfilms are starting to succumb to vinegar syndrome degradation. Archives experts will make sure that these documents are preserved.

** With the exception of Saturdays preceding holiday Mondays. Residents wishing to consult microfilms in the evenings must contact the Archives ahead of time at 819-243-2345, extension 3533 or 3208.
