This by-law came into force on August 28, 2009.

It applies to every building located within Gatineau, regardless of the year it was built or which by-law applied before this one came into force, unless otherwise specified.

The by-law provides for the systematic incorporation of the National Fire Code of Canada 1995 into the by-law as though it were a part of it, with each part and section of the Code corresponding to a part and section of the by-law, subject to certain modifications.
