Biking Directions for Ottawa and Gatineau on Google Maps

On November 22, 2010, Google announced the launch of biking directions in Canada at the Sustainable Mobility Summit 2010. Canada's Capital Region was the first place in Canada to include its complete cycling network inGoogle Maps biking directions. There, you'll find all bike paths and lanes managed by the National Capital Commission (NCC) and the cities of Ottawa and Gatineau.

Biking directions will soon be available to users of Google Maps. Canada is the second country with Google's biking feature, available in the United States since March 2010. Other Canadian cities to add biking directions are Winnipeg, Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver, Waterloo, Kelowna and Calgary.

The new Google Maps biking feature (coming soon!) will bring the Capital's complete cycling network to your computer or smart phone.

To find your bike route around Ottawa and Gatineau, simply enter your start and end points in Google Maps. Click the bike picture and voila! Your route will include bike trails, bike lanes, and bike-friendly streets (and avoid hills!) whenever possible.
