Confirmation of a case of COVID-19 at a Ville de Gatineau day camp site

Gatineau, July 21, 2020. – Ville de Gatineau and the Centre int�gr� de sant� et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais (CISSSO)�have confirmed that a counselor at the Jean-de-Br�beuf day camp received a positive result for COVID 19 on Monday, July 20.

●	As soon as it was informed, working closely with the Direction de la sant� publique de l'Outaouais, Gatineau applied the latter's recommendations and the prescribed sanitary measures. The entire site underwent additional cleaning.

●	A reminder was issued about the protection and physical distancing measures, as well as about hand washing.

●	According to the epidemiological investigation that was conducted by the Direction de la sant� publique de l'Outaouais, 8 people, including children and staff, who present a moderate risk, will have to go into preventive self-isolation.

●	Gatineau contacted all of the parents and children who attended this day camp site last week, as well as those attending this week, to inform them about the situation.

●	Gatineau also contacted the employees at moderate risk to inform them that they could not work. Staff in self-isolation will be excused from their duties for the next two weeks. Those individuals have been referred for testing.

Since the day camps opened on July 6, Gatineau has introduced a series of measures to ensure that the sanitary and physical distancing measures were followed as a means to reduce the risks.
- The day camp sites are disinfected at least three times a day. The Jean-de- Br�beuf day camp site received an extra cleaning following confirmation of the positive result.
- Gatineau is working in collaboration with the school boards to adapt the janitorial procedures to the instructions received from Sant� publique at the sites used by the day camps. An additional 34 casual positions were filled to support the team with the sanitary measures.
- All Gatineau day camp counselors have undergone mandatory training given by the Association des camps du Qu�bec (ACQ) in connection with the pandemic. Gatineau added training on hygiene measures and on guidance and intervention techniques related to COVID-19.
- Employees and the children's parents fill out a questionnaire every day to assess their health.
- Groups are isolated and most activities take place outdoors.
