COVID-19 – Gatineau libraries gradually reopening

Gatineau, June 15, 2020. – The libraries will be gradually reopening, as per their usual summer schedules, starting on June 18. All services will be no contact until further notice. These will include loans at the counter and returns through external slots.

Quick facts

●	Gatineau will gradually restore loan and return services throughout its network of 10 libraries starting on June 18.

●	Special measures will be introduced to protect the health of users and staff in accordance with the provincial government's instructions. Libraries will follow the physical distancing and hygiene measures recommended by Sant� publique

●

Starting on June 18, the six libraries will reopen as per their summer schedules:
- the Aur�lien-Doucet library (Hull sector);
- the Bernard-Lonergan library (Buckingham sector);
- the Guy-Sanche library (Gatineau sector);
- the Lucien-Lalonde library (Hull sector);
- the Lucy-Faris library (Aylmer sector); and
- the Manise-Morin library (Masson-Angers sector).

●	The other four libraries will reopen on July 9, as per their summer schedule: - the Docteur-Jean-Lorrain library (Gatineau sector); - the Jean-Marie-Caron library (Masson-Angers sector); - the Maison-du-Citoyen library (Hull sector); and - the Riviera library (Gatineau sector).

●	The shelves, reading areas and Internet stations remain off limits until further notice.

●	Members will have to reserve their documents ahead of time using the catalogue or by calling 819-595-7460.

●	Members will be notified when their documents are ready for pick-up. They will then come to the loan counter of the library for pick-up.

●	Home delivery will be offered on request for those over the age of 70.

●	Good news! The due dates for new loans have been temporarily extended by one week: - hard copy and audio books can be borrowed for 28 days; and - DVDs, video games, CDs, board games and magazines can be borrowed for 14 days.

●	For documents borrowed before the lock-down, the due dates will be extended to July 15. No late fees will be charged until then.

●	As a preventive measure, all returned documents will be quarantined for 72 hours before being put back in circulation.

●	Digital collections and online services remain available at all times.

●	As you will recall, municipal buildings have been closed and municipal activities have been cancelled since March 13 to limit the propagation of COVID-19.

●	An additional 728 titles have been added to the library's already vast selection of digital books. In May, 7,622 digital books were lent out (a 199% increase over May 2019).
