Gatineau crews to continue snow clearing operations

Gatineau, February 13, 2019 – The 42 centimetres of snow that fell on Gatineau roads will have crews working through the night clearing sidewalks, school corridors and streets.

Quick facts

Side streets will continue to be cleared through the night to have them ready by morning.
Given the accumulation of snow on sidewalks and in school corridors, the challenge is greater than usual. Therefore, it will be necessary to blow the snow, which means that it will take crews a few days. Gatineau maintains more than 360 kilometres of school corridors.
Snow blowing operations will begin this evening in every sector of the city, and will be carried out in accordance with operational priorities.
Residents can help speed things up by not parking their vehicles on the streets until they have been cleared by municipal crews.
All municipal administrative offices and municipal activities will resume normal hours on Thursday, February 14.
Garbage, recyclables and compostables that were to be collected on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, February 13, 14 and 15 will be delayed to the following day. Consult DTRITUS for the adjusted schedule.
The special collections of bulky items and construction residues that had been scheduled for February 13, 14 and 15 will be delayed until February 27 and 28, and March 1.
The parking ban is extended to everyone, and will be in effect tonight, that is to say Wednesday to Thursday, until further notice.
