On the grounds of the Gatineau sports centre.
Artist: Francine Larivée
Multidisciplinary artist Francine Larivée, winner of a national competition under the Politique d'intégration des arts à l'architecture et à l'environnement des bâtiments et des sites gouvernementaux et publics du gouvernement du Québec, has created a work comprised of five triangular sculptures made of Corten steel for the sports centre's built landscape and its unique morphology.
These geometric shapes in a more or less raised position extend the peaks of some the landscape's higher points, and invite the viewer to approach and discover the sculptures' other aspects, as their profiles change depending on the angle, the season or the time of day. The perspectives suggested by their slender and pure lines, in balance with their environment, crown the site while maintaining a subtle dialogue with it.
Francine Larivée invites us to grasp her symbolic connection to the site's landscape and function, and gives each of us the opportunity to establish our particular interaction with her work, in our own way and time.
The work entitled À MÊME LE SITE : INSPIRATION, EXPIRATION. LE DÉPASSEMENT© has been officially inaugurated in September 2011.
