Useful tools

Circular economy

Ville de Gatineau aims to become a zero-waste city by focusing on reduction at the source (product manufacturing and design) and on optimizing waste management (reuse, recycling, recovery, etc.).

Following a study conducted in 2023-2024, Ville de Gatineau adopted its Strategy for the implementation of the circular economy in Gatineau. This strategy targets textiles and construction waste, two underutilized materials that account for a significant portion of the waste disposed of in the city.

Textiles

With the rise of fast fashion and the decline in the number of donation bins available in Gatineau, the amount of textiles sent to landfills has increased significantly over the past ten years.

To address this situation and meet the 2023-2029 WMP goal of reducing textile waste by 75%, Ville de Gatineau is planning specific measures to improve textile recovery.
