The village of Gatineau splits off from Templeton West.

1957

Pointe-à-Gatineau becomes the city of Pointe-Gatineau.
Gatineau becomes a city.

1964

South Hull changes its name to the municipality of Lucerne.

1971

East Hull changes its name to the city of Touraine.

1975

Hull becomes a city.
The cities of Pointe-Gatineau, Gatineau and Touraine, the townships of Templeton West, Templeton East and the east part of Templeton East, as well as the village of Templeton merge to form the city of Gatineau.
The cities of Buckingham and Masson, the municipality of Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette, the townships of Buckingham, Buckingham South East and Buckingham South West, the parish of L'Ange-Gardien and the village of Angers merge to form the city of Buckingham.

January 1, 1975

Aylmer, Lucerne and Deschênes merge to form the city of Aylmer.

May 17, 1979

In response to public pressure, the city of Masson and the municipalities of L'Ange-Gardien and Notre-Dame-de-la-Salette split off from Buckingham.

January 1, 1989

The municipality of Cantley splits off from Gatineau.

1993

Masson changes its name to city of Masson-Angers.

2000

Bicentennial of the city of Hull, with celebrations lasting 12 months.

January 1, 2002

The cities of Aylmer, Buckingham, Gatineau, Hull and Masson-Angers (as well as the Outaouais urban community) merge to form the city of Gatineau.

1er janvier 2012

The city of Gatineau celebrates its tenth birthday.
