Gatineau's Section de la gestion des documents et des archives (SGDA) strives to respond to requests from its holdings and archival collections within 30 days after they are received. It should be noted that the more accurate the request, the easier it will be for us to respond accordingly. It is important that you identify any events, dates, locations, individuals or institutions connected to your request.

Anyone may consult the documents in the private or institutional archival holdings stored by Gatineau's Section de la gestion des documents et des archives. However, documents are subject to: the Act Respecting Access to Documents Held by Public Bodies and the Protection of Personal Information, section 19 of the Archives Act and the Copyright Act. It should be noted that gloves must be worn when handling the documents.

Gatineau's Section de la gestion des documents et des archives has prepared a few publications, including the Guide des archives and numerical indexes.
Users also have access to certain documents on microform. A reader-printer can be used to consult and, if necessary, reproduce these documents.
The SGDA has an iconographic collection of photographs and slides. This collection has not been treated.
In some cases, subject to a formal agreement, the SGDA may lend out certain documents, for instance for exhibitions.
The SGDA applies municipal by-law 961 on the setting of fees for goods, services and activities offered by Gatineau (Établissant la tarification applicable pour des biens, services ou activités offerts par la Ville de Gatineau). For instance, a fee of $0.25 per page is charged for the reproduction of 8 ½ x 11 or 8 ½ x 14 documents.
The SGDA provides certain documents in digital form for the convenience of researchers and the public at large.
