Modernizing your residual materials collections!
Your bins are now emptied by a truck equipped with a robotic arm.
To enable the truck to collect your bins properly, make sure you follow the instructions below:
Ville de Gatineau wheeled bins (brown, blue and gray bins)
80 to 360 litre European model wheeled bins identified by a “V” (for “vert”) for yard waste (any colour other than blue)
Ville de Gatineau labels for overflow garbage bags
These bags must be placed next to the street along with the gray bin, to be collected the day after the general collection day by another truck.
Trash cans
Bagged leaves
American model wheeled bins
Boxes
Branches and other excess trash next to the bins
Recycling bags
Bulky items will now be collected by appointment only. It will be possible to have them collected more often throughout the year!
Yard waste is accepted every week in brown bins and designated bins identified by a “V” for “vert” or at the ecocentres. Any surplus will be collected during one of the five special annual collections:
The first collections will take place in October 2024 (dates to be confirmed).

Recyclables will continue to be accepted every two weeks in blue bins or in the permanent ecocentres. If you generate more recyclables than will fit into your blue bin, you can get another one for free by simply calling 311.
There will be two special collections every year for occasional recyclable surpluses:
