The SVPG is committed to providing quality service and support to victims of crime and their loved ones. To this end, the SPVG has developed a partnership with the Centre d'aide aux victimes d'actes criminels (CAVAC) de l'Outaouais under which a worker can follow up quickly and intervene proactively with victims following a police intervention. From now on, victims will be contacted by this worker within a few days after the event to provide the full range of services available through the CAVAC.
For more than 25 years, the CAVAC de l'Outaouais has been providing frontline services to victims of crime, their loved ones and witnesses. CAVAC's services are available whether or not the author of the crime has been identified, arrested, charged or found guilty. CAVAC's support (free and confidential) is provided by a professional team of experts in intervention, including criminologists, social workers and sexologists.
CAVAC's services can be summarized as follows:
Sometimes the victims are not ready to accept help when the CAVAC agent first calls. In those cases, they are always welcome to call the CAVAC main office if they feel ready at a later date.
