Given the current need for social isolation, when people are asked to limit contact with family and close friends and remain at home to reduce the risk of propagation of COVID-19, some people find themselves in danger in their own homes:

  • children at risk of mistreatment, abuse or exploitation;
  • victims of domestic abuse; and
  • abused and mistreated elders.

During this period of confinement and in the absence of the usual safety nets, the SPVG is reaching out to the public. Together, for our community, let's be the eyes and ears of the people around us: let's be on the lookout and report any physical or psychological violence or neglect that we might be concerned about.

Have you witnessed a situation of abuse, mistreatment, neglect or violence involving someone around you, or do you have suspicions?

The SPVG invites you to immediately call one of the following numbers:

  • in a case involving a child, the Direction de la protection de la jeunesse (DPJ) at 1-800-567-6810;
  • in a case of domestic violence, SOS violence conjugale at 1-800-363-9010;
  • in a case involving an elder, Ligne Aide Abus Aînés at 1-888-489-2287;
  • any other case, the SPVG at 819-246-0222; or
  • in any case, 911 for an emergency or when immediate police assistance is required.
