Are you dissatisfied with the services you received? Would you like to file a complaint against SPVG or one of its police or civilian employees? If so, you have a number of options: Commissaire à la déontologie policière (if the complaint concerns a policer officer) or the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec (CDPDJ).

Complaint addressed to SPVG concerning a police or civilian employee

Complaints addressed to SPVG are first forwarded to the management of the police service and then to the manager responsible for the employee in question. When called for, SPVG management conducts an internal investigation or applies the necessary measures.

To file a complaint about an SPVG employee (police or civilian), simply fill out this form online. In order to help us identify the individuals in question, please provide as much detail as possible (badge number, if available, date, place, context of the intervention, etc.).

If your complaint is related to the Act to assist persons who are victims of criminal offences and to facilitate their recovery, please check the appropriate box before submitting your online form.

Crime committed by an SPVG police or civilian employee

If you have reason to believe that a crime has been committed by an SPVG police or civilian employee, you have the following choices:

  • Stop by one of the SPVG's police stations or points of service to report the suspected crime. A police officer will be on site to take down all the information required to prepare an occurrence report.
  • Contact the SPVG by calling 819-246-0222 to have a police officer come to you.
  • Call 819-243-2345, extension 7620 if you would like to meet in private with an officer from the SPVG's Division des normes professionnelles et des affaires internes (DNPAI).

Police ethics complaint

Quebec's Commissaire à la déontologie policière is a body that is independent from the SPVG. This ethics system ensures the application of the Code of ethics of Québec police officers. “This code establishes the duties and standards of conduct of police officers in their relations with the public in the performance of their duties”.

The system, which is governed by the Police Act, aims to better protect residents while ensuring that their rights and freedoms are respected. Moreover, it seeks to develop high standards of service and professional conscience among the police.

When a resident files a police ethics complaint, the SPVG's Division des normes professionnelles et des affaires internes (DNPAI) ensures that action is taken in collaboration with the Commissaire à la déontologie policière.

To file a complaint with the Commissaire à la déontologie policière, simply fill out the form online.

Complaint to the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec (CDPDJ)

The CDPDJ is an organization that is independent of the government, and exists to serve residents and the public interest. Its mission is to ensure compliance with the Charter of human rights and freedoms, the Youth Protection Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act respecting equal access to employment in public bodies.

To file a complaint with the CDPDJ, simply follow the indications shown online.
