Gatineau's Service de police (SPVG) recently introduced a barrel simulator to help the public – young people in particular – better understand the importance of wearing a seat belt.

Once the rotation mechanism is activated, the seat belt around the mannequin in the driver's seat keeps it firmly in place. But the mannequin in the passenger seat – which is not secured by a seat belt – gets thrown about inside the vehicle.

This initiative stems from the SPVG's Section de la circulation et des événements spéciaux, and is the outcome of a collaborative effort among the following partners: Centre de formation professionnelle de l'Outaouais, Compétence Outaouais, Remorquage Tin-Tin, Équipement hydraulique Outaouais and Gatineau's Service des travaux publics.
