If you are thinking of getting a fire extinguisher, make sure it is labeled ABC. This indicates that the extinguisher contains a multi-purpose powder useable in most fires: those caused by wood, paper and materials (A); those caused by flammable liquids (B); and those produced by electrical appliances (C).
