Clearing your meter

To ensure the safe and efficient operation of your natural gas appliances, it is important that you carefully clear the air intakes, exhaust pipes, and your meter. Clear regularly, and especially when there is a heavy accumulation of snow.

Dig safe!

If you are planning landscape and excavation work on your property, make sure before you dig that there are no natural gas pipes, telecommunication cables or electrical cables nearby. Before any kind of excavation work around the house, from putting up a fence to planting a tree, you must know what's underground.

A smell of natural gas in your home?

  • Stay calm.
  • Open the doors and windows.
  • Immediately evacuate all occupants.
  • Do not use the telephone, do not touch a switch, do not turn any appliance on or off, do not smoke and do not light a flame of any kind.
  • Call 911 or the Gazifère emergency number (819-771-8321) from a neighbour's telephone.
  • If the leaking natural gas is burning, do not try to put the fire out. Call 911.
