Gatineau has a second option for users of downtown (and boulevard Saint-Joseph) parking meters: smart cards. The obvious advantage of this card is that you no longer need coins, but it also gives you a receipt, and can be used to pay at municipal parking lots.
Smart cards are sold at the Hull service centre, at 775 boulevard de la Carrière, suite 200.
The smart cards are sold at the initial cost of $5, but you buy a card for up to $100.
Users can top up their cards at the Hull service centre's Division du stationnement, de la brigade scolaire adulte et du contrôle animalier or, using a credit card, at a pay station at the following municipal parking lots:
When you use a smart card at a parking meter, just follow these few easy steps:
To pay at a parking lot or top up your card, just follow the instructions at the pay station.
Recognized for its quality of life, Gatineau is a city of 285,000 inhabitants. It is located on the north shore of the Ottawa River, and extends east and west of the Gatineau River.
