This program provides financial assistance to building owners who need to replace their lead supply line. Anyone wishing to apply for a grant for such work as is eligible under this program must fill out the grant application form and submit it to Gatineau for approval within 12 months of the work being completed on the private portion of the lead supply line.

Eligibility

Eligible building

Any building located within the territory of Ville de Gatineau built before 1970 and on Gatineau's property assessment roll that has a lead supply line.

Eligible work

• removal and replacement of the private supply line;
• excavation;
• backfilling; and
• restoration of property to its original condition, including landscaping.

Eligible costs

• cost of materials purchased;
• cost of equipment, tools and labour required to do the eligible work (tax included).

Amount of financial assistance

The grant covers 100% of the eligible costs up to $1,000 (tax included) for the replacement of the lead supply line.

Process

1. Fill out the grant application form (in French only);
2. The grant application form must be accompanied by the following documents:
   
   1°        Proof of ownership (municipal tax account for the current year or deed of purchase);
   
   2°        If applicable, a letter from the owner authorizing a representative (physical person) to sign the form;
   
   3°        a) An invoice from the contractor who replaced the private portion of the lead supply line, which must be sufficiently detailed and/or;
   
              b) The invoices for the purchase of the materials needed to replace the private portion of the lead supply line;
   
   4°       A document deemed satisfactory by Gatineau proving that the private portion of the supply line was made of lead prior to the replacement;
   
   5°       Proof of the date of replacement of the lead supply line; and
   
   6°       Any other document required to process the application.
