Role of Gatineau
It is up to Gatineau to name the geographic entities that fall under its jurisdiction, such as roads (streets, lanes, avenues, etc.), parks and buildings. The names must be approved and formalized by the Commission de toponymie du Québec.
Recognized for its quality of life, Gatineau is a city of 292,000 inhabitants. It is located on the north shore of the Ottawa River, and extends east and west of the Gatineau River.
