Appropriate conduct

Ville de Gatineau strives to ensure that social media exchanges at all times remain harmonious. It encourages such exchanges, but expects a certain decorum:

  • no personal information about other users, other people or other employees;
  • no attacks or insults;
  • no discriminatory, defamatory or sexist language;
  • no political or other comments that are derogatory against the Mayor, municipal councillors, Ville de Gatineau or its employees;
  • no comments inciting racial, religious, ethnic or other hatred;
  • no rude language;
  • no promotion or action designed to discredit a political party or its representatives;
  • only pertinent comments related to the content of the posted topics; and
  • no repeated comments, spam or advertising in any form.

Ville de Gatineau is not responsible for the comments and opinions of users.
Ville de Gatineau authorizes users to add hyperlinks as long as the content is related to the topics in question. It is understood that Ville de Gatineau is not responsible for the content of those external sites.

Monitoring

In the interest of keeping exchanges constructive and respectful, Ville de Gatineau monitors all of the comments created or shared on social media.

Ville de Gatineau reserves the right to delete any comment it deems inappropriate or that fails to respect this guideline or social media terms of use. Ville de Gatineau may also block a member or follower if they fail to respect the stated rules.

Response time

Under normal circumstances, Ville de Gatineau responds to comments posted on its Facebook page or X feed. Social media are continuously monitored. Although there is an expectation of speedy and immediate response associated with the use of social media, there is sometimes a need to check with the different departments. Consequently, there may be delays from time to time, as required.
