Filing a complaint against SPVG or one of its employees
Are you dissatisfied with the services you received? Would you like to file a complaint against SPVG or one of its police or civilian employees? If so, you have a number of options: Commissaire à la déontologie policière (if the complaint concerns a policer officer) or the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec (CDPDJ).
Complaints addressed to SPVG are first forwarded to the management of the police service and then to the manager responsible for the employee in question. When called for, SPVG management conducts an internal investigation or applies the necessary measures.

Quebec's Commissaire à la déontologie policière is a body that is independent from the SPVG. This ethics system ensures the application of the Code of ethics of Québec police officers. “This code establishes the duties and standards of conduct of police officers in their relations with the public in the performance of their duties”.
The system, which is governed by the Police Act, aims to better protect residents while ensuring that their rights and freedoms are respected. Moreover, it seeks to develop high standards of service and professional conscience among the police.
When a resident files a police ethics complaint, the SPVG's Division des normes professionnelles et des affaires internes (DNPAI) ensures that action is taken in collaboration with the Commissaire à la déontologie policière.

The CDPDJ is an organization that is independent of the government, and exists to serve residents and the public interest. Its mission is to ensure compliance with the Charter of human rights and freedoms, the Youth Protection Act, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Act respecting equal access to employment in public bodies.
