Boil water advisory for a portion of the Gatineau sector

Gatineau, July 28, 2026. – The Ville de Gatineau advises that a preventive boil water advisory is in effect for a portion of the Gatineau sector, east of Montée Paiement and north of Boulevard de la Vérendrye. The affected area includes about 750 residents.

It is also possible to experience a drop in water pressure or a disruption in water service.


Quick Facts

  • Residents in the area affected by the boil water advisory must boil their water for one minute before consuming it, until the advisory is lifted.
  • Once the boil water advisory is lifted, residents will be required to:
    – Open all cold-water taps and let the water run for one minute, or until it becomes cold, before using it;
    – Follow the same procedure for water fountains;
    – Discard any ice made with water while the advisory was in effect.

Traffic Impacts (restored)

  • Boulevard La Vérendrye is closed to westbound traffic before Montée Paiement for repairs.
    – A detour is in place via Montée Paiement North, Rues Norbert, Lacombe, Harris, and Montée Paiement South. Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour signs.
