Precautionary Boil Water Advisory for the Gatineau Sector
Gatineau, March 12, 2026. – La Ville de Gatineau advises residents that a precautionary boil water advisory is currently in effect for a portion of the Gatineau sector.
A power outage early this morning at the Gatineau drinking water treatment plant caused the distribution pumps to stop for a few minutes. This resulted in a temporary drop in water pressure. Pressure in the water system has since been restored; however, a precautionary boil water advisory is required.
Quick Facts
Residents in the affected area must boil water for one minute before consuming it, until the advisory is lifted.
For residents currently without electricity, bottled water will be available from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations: – Baribeau Arena (231 Magnus Street East) – Stade-Pierre-Lafontaine Arena (255 Saint-Antoine Street)
Residents are encouraged to bring bags to help carry the bottled water distributed on site.
Once the boil water advisory is lifted, residents will be required to: – Open all cold-water taps and let the water run for one minute, or until it becomes cold, before using it. – Follow the same procedure for drinking fountains. – Discard any ice made with water while the advisory was in effect.
