Boil water advisory for a portion of the Gatineau sector

Gatineau, June 19, 2026. – Due to a water main break on rue Saint-Louis, the Ville de Gatineau advises that a preventive boil water advisory is in effect for a portion of the Gatineau sector. The affected area includes about 45 000 residents.

It is also possible to observe a drop in pressure or a yellowish discoloration of the water.


Quick Facts

  • Residents in the area affected by the boil water advisory must boil their water for one minute before consuming it, until the advisory is lifted.
  • Once the boil water advisory is lifted, residents will be required to:
    – Open all cold-water taps and let the water run for one minute, or until it becomes cold, before using it;
    – Follow the same procedure for water fountains;
    – Discard any ice made with water while the advisory was in effect.

Traffic Impacts

  • Rue Saint-Louis is closed between Boulevard de la Cité and Boulevard Maloney West for repairs.
  • A detour is in place via Boulevard de la Cité and Boulevard Maloney. Motorists are asked to follow the posted signs.
