Tap Water advisory lifted in the Aylmer sector

Gatineau, November 16, 2017. – The tap water advisory for part of the Aylmer sector has been lifted. Test results indicate that the water is completely safe to consume. Residents are asked to follow certain steps before consuming their tap water again.

Quick facts

●	All of the water testing results were submitted to the appropriate authorities, that is to say the Direction régionale de la santé publique de l'Outaouais (DSP) and the Ministère du développement durable, environnement et lutte contre les changements climatiques (MDDELCC).

●	Those authorities confirmed that the results indicate that the water meets current standards and is completely safe to consume.

●	Two bottled water distribution points will remain open until 10 p.m. tonight: - Centre communautaire Front (175 rue Front) - Centre aquatique Paul-Pelletier (325 chemin d'Aylmer)

●	Residents are also welcome to use the showers at the centre aquatique Paul-Pelletier until 10 p.m.

Step to follow

●	Residents should keep their bath or shower hot and cold water taps open for 60 minutes.

●	After that, they should open their sink taps for 5 minutes.

●	It is recommended that filters be changed in Brita or similar water filtration systems.

●	If any odour lingers, continue emptying your water tanks.

Reminders

●	An advisory was issued on November 14 after the smell of hydrocarbons was detected coming from the water.

●	The affected area was delimited by chemin Eardley, boulevard des Allumettières, and Broad, Bagot, Gordon and North.

●	Residents had the option of signing up for email and text message alerts. Those two methods are the best way to receive urgent information from Gatineau wherever you may be.
