Gatineau, August 26 2026 — The Gatineau City Police Service (SPVG) is looking for victims of burglaries and thefts of underwear that have taken place over the last few years within the Gatineau area.

On November 20, 2025, police officers carried out a search warrant at a residence in the Manoir des Trembles area in connection with two burglary cases.

During this operation, police officers arrested Timothy Patten, aged 52, of Gatineau. – He was remanded in custody and appeared before the Court of Québec.

The investigation continued following his court appearance, and further charges relating to similar offences were authorized by the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions. – These new complaints, combined with the evidence gathered, lead investigators to believe that the man may have victimized other people in the Manoir des Trembles neighbourhood, as well as elsewhere in Gatineau and Ottawa.
Modus operandi

Timothy Patten offered his services as a “handyman” for various types of work in private homes, mainly those of women.

After he had gained access to the victim's homes, the victims reported finding underwear that did not belong to them and discovering that some of their own underwear was missing.

Serial Crime Investigation
As several victims have been identified, the structure de gestion des enquêtes sur les crimes en série (GECS), coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec, has been deployed as part of this investigation. This is a unified command structure, within which Quebec police services work in partnership to swiftly identify crimes committed by predators and proceed with their arrest. This provincial coordination therefore enables the pooling of police resources and aims to better protect victims.
