Boil water advisory for Gatineau sector and part of Hull sector
Gatineau, January 22 2026. — The Ville de Gatineau advises that a preventive boil water advisory is in effect for a portion of the Gatineau sector and part of the Hull sector. The affected area includes more than 77,000 residents.
As part of ongoing work at the Gatineau sector drinking water treatment plant, an electrical intervention caused a temporary shutdown of the distribution pumps early this morning. This resulted in a brief drop in water pressure. Water pressure in the distribution system has now been restored; however, a preventive boil water advisory is required.

Residents in the area affected by the boil water advisory must boil their water for one minute before consuming it, until the advisory is lifted
Once the boil water advisory is lifted, residents will be required to: – Open all cold-water taps and let the water run for one minute, or until it becomes cold, before using it; – Follow the same procedure for water fountains; – Discard any ice made with water while the advisory was in effect.
