Water levels – Gatineau still in monitoring mode

Gatineau, May 28, 2022. – As projected, water levels have risen slightly since late yesterday. However, according to our experts, there is no cause for concern. Gatineau remains in "monitoring" mode, the same as yesterday.


Quick facts

The water level for the Gatineau River should start falling early in the week.
Gatineau remains in “monitoring” mode.
Shoreline residents are encouraged to keep their sandbag dikes in place.
Gatineau will inform citizens once water levels fall, and about the next steps to be taken, including the collection of sand bags.
Shoreline residents, organizations and cities can apply for financial assistance to cover costs incurred in preparing preventive measures for an actual or imminent disaster:
- Financial assistance and compensation provided by Quebec's ministère de la Sécurité publique for property owners and tenants;
- Financial assistance provided for municipalities affected by a disaster and for community organizations; and
- For any questions, citizens can call toll-free 1 888 643-AIDE (2433).

Municipal crews remain on standby and ready to step in if necessary as the situation evolves.
