Tap water advisory for part of the Aylmer sector
Gatineau, November 14, 2017. – Ville de Gatineau has issued a water advisory for part of the Aylmer sector. This advisory affects close to 2000 residences. The ban on the consumption of tap water is effective immediately, and until further notice.

The area delimited by chemin Eardley, boulevard des Allumettières et and Broad, Bagot, Gordon and North.

Gatineau are distributing bottled water at the centre aquatique Paul-Pelletier (325 chemin d'Aylmer). Residents will be able to use the showers at the centre until 10 p.m. tonight.

A smell of hydrocarbon was detected coming from the water during rehabilitation work on a supercharger on rue Front.
●
Water rinsing operations are currently underway.
●
Residents are not to consume the tap water within the affected perimeter.
●
The water must not be used for washing or brushing teeth, or for cooking or doing the dishes.
●
Boiling the water is useless under the circumstances.
●
The advisory is in effect until further notice.
●
Ville de Gatineau will inform the public as soon as the advisory is lifted.

Residents should monitor the municipal Web site for updates.

Residents can register to e-mail and text message (SMS) alerts.

The hours of operation of the centre aquatique Paul-Pelletier are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
