Gatineau, December 8, 2013. – Due to the overnight work scheduled for the water treatment plant in the Buckingham sector, Gatineau residents in the Buckingham and Masson-Angers sectors will be under a boil water advisory as of 7 p.m. on Monday, December 9.
The work will involve connecting a new high-pressure pumping system to the existing supply network right in front of the plant. The work will be carried out overnight from Monday, December 9 to Tuesday, December 10. Temporary pipes will be installed to maintain the supply of water. Affected residents may notice a drop in pressure.
Residents and institutions connected to this system should boil their water for at least one minute until Gatineau officials lift the boil water advisory.
Once the advisory has been lifted:
• open all cold water taps and let the water run for one minute or until it gets cold before using it (follow the same procedure with water fountains); and
• people with automatic ice makers should discard any ice that was made during the boil water advisory.
In addition, a portion of avenue de Buckingham will be closed starting at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 9 for the duration of the work. Traffic should follow the detour signs through Judge, McPike, Charles and Jean-XIII.
