GATINEAU MARKS ITS 35TH LOPPET

Gatineau, February 13, 2013. – Gatineau is proud to be associated with the 35th edition of the Gatineau Loppet, which will run from February 15 to 17. Thousands of skiers are expected to take part in Canada's biggest cross-country skiing event.

"Gatineau is pleased to be associated with this 35th edition of the Gatineau Loppet, an event that is every bit as famous for being a world-class event as it is for being a family-oriented one, open to all cross-country ski enthusiasts. This year once again, we are expecting athletes from Quebec, the rest of Canada and more than 20 different countries. I congratulate the organizers as well as the many volunteers who make this such a popular winter event," indicated Gatineau Mayor Marc Bureau.

The Gatineau Loppet is an international cross-country ski competition that takes place in Gatineau Park, with École secondaire Mont-Bleu in the Hull sector as its focal point. The event includes the classic and free style races, as well as several other activities, such as the bistro Après-Ski and the Ski Show, not to mention the traditional Giant Ski competition!

Gatineau invests close to $65,000 every year, including goods and services, in this prestigious event that is open to all cross-country ski enthusiasts.

Gatineau would like to thank the organizers, volunteers and partners for their tremendous contribution to the success of the Gatineau Loppet.
