RATIFICATION OF THE AGREEMENTS IN PRINCIPLE BETWEEN VILLE DE GATINEAU AND THE FRATERNITÉ DES POLICIERS ET POLICIÈRES DE GATINEAU
Gatineau, June 13, 2011. – Now that the Fraternité des policiers et policières de Gatineau has endorsed it, the Municipal Council is ready to give its go-ahead to two agreements in principle between Ville de Gatineau and the union representatives.
"I am very happy with these agreements in principle negotiated with our police officers. The resulting collective agreements will be for a total of eight years, which will give us time to turn the page and constructively pursue the implementation of the police staffing plan approved by the Council," indicated Gatineau Mayor Marc Bureau.
A number of highlights of these agreements in principle:
• Eight-year duration (January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2010, and from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2014)
• Clauses on the professional development of Gatineau police officers
• Necessary flexibility to introduce projects that are in line with today's reality, such as the issue of street gangs
• Wage increases within Gatineau's budgetary allowance
"These agreements will enable us to focus everyone's energies on our main mission, which is to offer an optimal service to our residents," pointed out Denis Tassé, municipal councillor for the Touraine district and spokesperson for the executive committee on human resources.
Within the next few weeks, Gatineau will begin drafting the texts in preparation for the signing of the new collective agreements.
