Gatineau, April 20, 2012. – Because of a major watermain break in the city's east end, Gatineau is having problems with the water supply. This situation affects all residents in the Masson-Angers and Buckingham sectors (approximately 27,500 people). Municipal crews are working to rectify the situation.

The two affected sectors are under a boil water advisory effective immediately, whether or not they have experienced an interruption or a drop in pressure in their water supply.

Thus, residents and establishments in both sectors must boil their water until the boil water advisory is lifted by Gatineau.
Once the advisory has been lifted:
• all cold water taps must be opened and left to run for one minute or until the water gets cold before using it (the same procedure applies to water fountains),
• all outdoor taps, such as those used for hose hook-ups, must be purged, and
• any ice made with water obtained during the boil water advisory is to be discarded.

Gatineau thanks residents for their usual cooperation.
