Gatineau, June 5, 2013. – As part of its summertime fun activities, Gatineau is inviting everyone to come and discover some of its heritage wonders during two outings in the Aylmer sector. These outings are free, as are most of the other proposed activities.

Guided Tour of the Deschênes Neighbourhood

Ville de Gatineau and the Association des résidents de Deschênes invite you to take part in a walk around the Deschênes rapids, where this neighbourhood built its history.

On Saturday, June 8, 2013, between 2 and 4 p.m., come and stroll through this heritage "village" during a two-kilometre guided tour, and relive the days of the old dam, the Hull Electric tram and the nickel refinery. Guide Howard Powles has organized a walk through some marvelous green areas that to this day retain their natural state.

Participants are to meet in the parking lot of the André-Touchet community centre at 57 chemin Vanier. The tour will be conducted in both English and French.

Information: www.vive-deschenes.ca.

Heritage Bike Tour: Old Aylmer

All along the route, you will discover a blend of natural panoramas and cultural landscapes, and get to admire the architecture of this neighbourhood with its rich heritage. The tour will be followed by a free visit to the Symmes Inn Museum.

You must register to take part in this heritage tour because the number of participants is limited to 25.

This tour will be repeated on Saturday, August 10, 2013, and on Saturday, September 14, 2013.
