Request to cut back on the use of tap water in part of the Gatineau sector

Gatineau, June 17, 2020. – Gatineau asks residents in part of the Gatineau sector to cut back on their use of tap water. This is due to the work being done on the Main pressure boosting station. Tap water will be supplied to the affected area (some 23,450 people) by a temporary station. Everyone's cooperation is essential to ensure a stable and constant supply of tap water.

Quick facts

Residents living in the affected area are asked to cut back on their use of tap water between 6 and 9 p.m. We suggest doing the laundry, taking baths or showers, and using the dishwasher at other times of the day. Outdoor watering, washing vehicles and filling pools should also be put off.
If everyone makes an effort, there will be enough water to meet basic needs (meal preparation, etc.). If not, Gatineau may have to restrict the use of tap water within the affected area, particularly in a heat wave.
Everyone's cooperation will be required as long as the tap water supply depends on the temporary station. This portion of the work should be completed around late summer.
Updates will be posted on the municipal Web site.
Gatineau thanks everyone for their cooperation.
