The 2016 Snowflake Kingdom is slides, games, snow sculptures … and La Guerre des tuques in 3D!
Gatineau, December 10, 2015. – The Snowflake Kingdom will be welcoming kids of all ages from January 29 to February 15, 2016 at Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau! To everyone's great delight, the biggest snow playground on the continent will host the travelling La Guerre des tuques 3D! This 38 th edition of the event will revolve around the theme of Discovering the Great Canadian North. Quick facts
La Guerre des tuques 3D On the third weekend, young people will get to experience the fun of playing outdoors in the La Guerre des tuques 3D setting: ● | the La Guerre des tuques 3D area will be accessible from February 13 to 15, inclusively, |
● | angels in the snow, snowball fights and much more will be featured, and |
● | what's more, they'll get the chance for a photo op with their favourite character! |
New in 2016
Lots of new activities for visitors:
● | giant versions of our favourite board games, |
● | an outdoor exercise circuit, |
● | slides and sculptures under the lights, |
● | digital art projections on a giant snow screen, |
● | discovering maple sugar products, and |
● | an Inuit Circle with throat singing, dancing and music. |
The XTREME Zone will be back with three new activities. In addition to the traditional zipline, there will be a carrousel, an ATV circuit and a dog-sled run. Snowflake Kingdom ● | There are still slides at the Snowflake Kingdom, and lots of shows on the Snowflake Stage. |
● | For many people, the Snowflake Kingdom is the annual gathering place, and the highlight of the winter for several Gatineau families. |
● | The program also includes introductions to winter sports and demonstrations. |
● | There will be a Parks Canada presentation on the Franklin expedition. There will also be an exhibit on the 175th anniversary of Sir Wilfrid Laurier on the first weekend. |
● | The Ice Hog family, Papa, Mama, and twins Noumi and Nouma, the famous Winterlude mascots, will be there! |
● | The Snowflake Kingdom is one of the three official Winterlude sites. |
● | Ville de Gatineau is co-producing the Snowflake Kingdom with Canadian Heritage. |
● | Every year, some 200,000 people visit the site, and 26% of them are tourists and excursionists. |
