COVID-19 – Municipal service counters to reopen

Gatineau, August 19, 2020. – Starting on August 24, Gatineau municipal service counters will once again be open. This applies to the service centres, Service des finances, Service du greffe and the municipal court. The councillors' and mayor's offices will also reopen.


Quick facts

Many municipal services are available online. Gatineau encourages residents to continue using those services.
- municipal tax verifications and payments;
- ticket payments;
- permit applications;
- property tax assessment verifications;
- tagged overflow garbage bag purchases; and
- job applications.
Payment by cheque or bank card is preferred for transactions at municipal service desks.
Just a reminder that the deadline for the second property tax instalment is August 31, 2020. Taxpayers have several payment options:
- online or telephone banking through their financial institution;
- pre-authorized payment (form at gatineau.ca);
- PostelMC;
- Bank ATM or teller;
- mail, using the remittance stub and return envelope;
- cheque or money order at a service centre counter; or
- at the nearest service centre counter for payment by bank card or cheque.
New property owners who have not received a tax bill should immediately contact Gatineau at 819-243-2400.
Municipal court sessions resumed on August 17. The municipal court service counter will open on August 24, 2020.
- tickets can be paid online, by phone or in person at the municipal court service counter; and
- questions can be addressed to cour.municipale@gatineau.ca or called in to 819-595-7272 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Gatineau reminds residents that the health measures prescribed by the Government of Quebec must be followed in all municipal locations:
- face coverings are mandatory in municipal buildings;
- hands should be regularly sanitized;
- a distance of two metres should be maintained between people; and
- two people at a time are permitted in elevators, and face coverings are mandatory.
