News release
Temporary closure of Promenade du Portage – The downtown revitalization work is continuing

Gatineau, September 15, 2017. – The revitalization work is continuing in downtown Gatineau. To this end, Promenade du Portage will be closed between Leduc and Hôtel-de-Ville streets from September 18 to October 6 inclusively.

Quick facts

A segment of Promenade du Portage must be closed to finalize road resurfacing at the following intersections:
- Promenade du Portage and Laval Street,
- Promenade du Portage and Aubry Court.

Impacts

Promenade du Portage will be closed to vehicular traffic between Leduc and Hôtel-de-Ville streets.
Local traffic will be permitted and delivery zones and pedestrian access will be accessible at all times.
A detour is planned for drivers and buses.
In order to bypass construction zones, Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) changed some of its routes. Please visit www.sto.ca for details.
In order to facilitate the flow of traffic on detour roads, street parking will be suspended on the following streets:
- Leduc Street between Promenade du Portage and Hôtel-de-Ville Street,
- Hôtel-de-Ville Street (North side) between Laval and Kent streets.
Residents are urged to abide by the temporary signage indicating the detours to follow to bypass construction zones. As needed, flaggers will be on site to direct motorists.
It should be noted that the municipal parking at 15 Leduc Street is available free of charge from Sunday to Saturday between 5 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Local businesses will remain open and accessible at all times.
Every effort will be made to limit the impacts on local businesses and residents.

Highlights

As a reminder, the work on the municipal road network could be extended in case of adverse weather conditions.
This work will contribute to creating a more welcoming downtown, while overhauling the public utilities.
Ville de Gatineau would like to thank the population for its usual cooperation.
