Update at 3 p.m.: Two Canada Post mail collection sites will be set up by tomorrow

Gatineau, September 26, 2018, at 3 p.m. – Two temporary Canada Post mail collection sites will be set up effective September 27. Tornado victims will be able to pick up their mail at 120 rue Edmonton and at 16 rue Bériault.

Services to victims

Tornado victims will be able to pick up their mail at either of the following two sites as indicated:
- 120 rue Edmonton: Monday to Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- 16 rue Bériault: Monday to Friday from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday times to be confirmed
- They must register at www.canadapost.ca or in person at a post office.
- A valid government-issued photo ID will be requested.

Tornado victims who have not yet registered at the victims centre can do so by calling 1-800-863-6582.
At this point, 1,619 residents have registered at the victims centre.
To find out whether someone has registered at the victims centre, call the 311 non-urgent call centre. For calls from outside Gatineau, use the 1-866-299-2002 toll-free number.

Distribution of donations to the victims

Today's distribution will run until 8 p.m. at the former Sears location on the ground floor of Galeries de Hull (320 boulevard Saint-Joseph, Hull sector).
Special STO shuttles will be available to take tornado victims to and from the distribution location. They will depart from the centre communautaire Père-Arthur-Guertin, at 16 rue Bériault.

Donations and assistance from residents

Residents wishing to help the tornado victims can make a cash donation through the Red Cross at www.gatineau.ca/croix-rouge.
Businesses wishing to offer their services are asked to contact the Service des approvisionnements de la Ville de Gatineau at 819-243-2315.
Donations of materials that can be distributed directly to the victims (baby items, non-perishable food, etc.) should be addressed to the Salvation Army at 1-438-888-9715 or through retablissement@armeedusalut.ca
Residents can also drop off donations at the former Sears location on the ground floor of Galeries de Hull (320 boulevard. Saint-Joseph, Hull sector).
Donations should be dropped off at door 5 inside the mall. They will be accepted during Galeries de Hull business hours.
We have more than enough clothing and toys. Personal hygiene products and non-perishable goods are appreciated. Baby items (powdered milk, diapers, wipes) are in demand.
Gatineau thanks residents for their tremendous generosity.
