Water supply interruption in Zone blanche sector

Gatineau, April 16, 2021. – Ville de Gatineau is hereby notifying residents in the Zone blanche sector that they should expect a decrease in their water supply overnight from April 17 to 18. This will be followed by a full interruption on Monday, April 19. This situation will affect about 2,500 homes in the Gatineau sector. It will enable work to proceed between Labrosse and Lorrain.


Quick facts

Work will begin at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 17 and end at 5 a.m. the following day, Sunday.
The water supply system will undergo water-resistance testing. There will be water pressure drops and loss of water supply lasting a few minutes at a time.
This planned work comes further to a rupture in a culvert in the white zone. Boulevard Labrosse remains closed between boulevard des Affaires and chemin de Chambord, with a detour in place.

Full interruption and preventive boil water advisory after the work

The temporary system will be connected on Monday, April 19, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.
This work will require a full interruption over a few hours for the target sector.
A preventive boil water advisory will be in effect once the water supply resumes, which is expected to be at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 19.

In the zone affected by the preventive boil water advisory

Individuals and establishments must boil their water for one minute before consuming it until the advisory is lifted.
After the preventive boil water advisory is lifted:
- Cold water taps must be left to run for one minute or until the water runs cold before consuming it. Follow the same procedure for water fountains;
- Discard any ice made with tap water during the preventive boil water advisory
