Heavy rainfall – Closure of the evacuee shelter

Gatineau, October 30, 2017. – Gatineau has just closed the evacuee shelter at the centre communautaire Le Baron.
All of the evacuees have left the centre communautaire Le Baron.
Gatineau has stabilized 3e Avenue, thereby restoring access to parc Riviera. Residents were able to return to their homes.
95 people signed in at the centre communautaire Le Baron throughout the day on October 30.
- The Red Cross and the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais (CISSSO) were on site. CISSSO offered psychosocial support.
A total of 48 people from parc Riviera were voluntarily evacuated as a preventive measure throughout the day.
Since midnight, CANU has received 1,128 calls. Of those, 295 were to report sewer back-ups and were checked, and 94 were for blocked drain wells. Service des travaux publics employees will follow up in response to residents' requests.
Gatineau received 90 to 111 mm of rain, depending on the sector, over a 38-hour period.
- The most affected sectors were Gatineau and Aylmer.
- The rainfall started in the night of October 28 to 29, and continued until the afternoon of October 30.
