Heavy rainfall – Closure of the evacuee shelter

Gatineau, October 30, 2017. – Gatineau has just closed the evacuee shelter at the centre communautaire Le Baron.
●All of the evacuees have left the centre communautaire Le Baron.
●Gatineau has stabilized 3e Avenue, thereby restoring access to parc Riviera. Residents were able to return to their homes.
●95 people signed in at the centre communautaire Le Baron throughout the day on October 30.
- The Red Cross and the Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l'Outaouais (CISSSO) were on site. CISSSO offered psychosocial support.
●A total of 48 people from parc Riviera were voluntarily evacuated as a preventive measure throughout the day.
●Since midnight, CANU has received 1,128 calls. Of those, 295 were to report sewer back-ups and were checked, and 94 were for blocked drain wells. Service des travaux publics employees will follow up in response to residents' requests.
●Gatineau received 90 to 111 mm of rain, depending on the sector, over a 38-hour period.
- The most affected sectors were Gatineau and Aylmer.
- The rainfall started in the night of October 28 to 29, and continued until the afternoon of October 30.
