News release
The magic of winter has descended on Winterlude's Snowflake Kingdom!

Gatineau, February 1, 2019. – Winterlude's Snowflake Kingdom is now officially open! Kids and adults alike are all invited. The Snowflake Kingdom is back at its usual location, in Jacques-Cartier Park, and will run from February 1 to 18, 2019. Admission is free for everyone!

Experience the magic of winter from Thursdays to Sundays, starting on February 1, and on Monday, February 18, which is Family Day in Ontario. For the full schedule, go to www.domainedesflocons.ca.

This year's Snowflake Kingdom

Magician Daniel Coutu will be back as the event's spokesperson!
- This native of Gatineau knows the Snowflake Kingdom very well, having visited it as a child.
- He rediscovered the wildly popular family site a few years ago with his own children.
- Follow the Snowflake Kingdom Facebook page for hours.
The famous slides for which the Snowflake Kingdom is so well known are back! Regular visitors will be happy to once again find the Iceberg, the Glacier and the Chinook, and to try out any number of the 16 lanes.
- The slope, height and speed of each slide are all carefully designed for optimum fun and safety.
Thrill seekers will be eager to try out the impressive zip-line stretching over the central area. Hanging 9.1 metres (30 feet) in the air, it spans 167.6 metres (550 feet)! There is a charge to use the zip-line.
Magnificent sculptures reflecting the theme of magic can be found throughout the site. Visitors can even watch some of them being made, but only today. The four three-dimensional sculptures and, on the wall of the Chinook slide, at 9 metres (30 feet) in height, the largest mural ever presented at the Snowflake Kingdom are truly sights to behold.
There will be plenty of chances for selfies in the snow silhouettes carved into the walls of the slides.
Kids aged 5 to 8 will have a chance for an introduction to downhill skiing and snowboarding under the supervision of dynamic instructors.
Musical bicycles will encourage visitors to reproduce a musical number with friends, family or total strangers. This activity will run from February 14 to 18.
La course des tuques will make a stop at the Snowflake Kingdom on February 16 and 17. Youngsters will get to play with their favourite characters from La course des tuques et des Mini-Tuques.
The Bouts de chou zone is back with fun games for the wee ones.
There are giant-sized board games all around the site: table soccer, snakes and ladders, tic-tac-toe, Connect 4 and many more.
In the circus zone, discover and master the basics of juggling and balancing.
An obstacle course for kids and adults offers a nice blend of fun and challenge.
There will be demonstrations of lacrosse, Canada's national summer sport.
Josh Dagg, a local wood sculptor and artist, will offer workshops on the weekends.
Outdoor fires throughout the site will give visitors a chance to warm up.
And of course, the Ice Hog family will be on hand! Mama, Papa, Noumi and Nouma will settle in, as they do every year, with hugs for everyone!

Shuttle bus and parking

As always, there will be a free shuttle service connecting the six Winterlude destinations all three weekends of Winterlude. Check www.sto.ca for the OLG Sno Bus schedule.
Some traffic and parking changes have been made to ensure the safety of visitors to the Snowflake Kingdom. Check the Snowflake Kingdom Web site for a map of the affected streets.
