Heat wave: Day camp schedule change

Gatineau, July 8, 2020. – Ville de Gatineau is letting residents know of a change in its day camp schedule during heat waves. The measure has been introduced to ensure the safety of campers and staff in the context of the current pandemic.

Given that the measures normally taken during heat waves cannot be applied, that is to say taking the bus to a place where everyone can swim or to an air-conditioned site, Ville de Gatineau will change its day camp schedule as follows:

- day camp sites will open at 7 a.m. for all participants (even for children who are not registered to day care); and
- sites will close at noon for all participants (even those registered for day care).

The coordinators are keeping a close eye on the weather forecasts. The decision to change the schedule will be taken no later than 4 p.m. the day before, and the decision will be posted on the municipal Web site. Parents will also be notified by e-mail and on the day camp site.

Gatineau is already announcing that this change will apply on Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10, 2020.
