Sexual assaults: the SPVG is asking victims to come forward

Gatineau, May 15. – Yesterday, following a weeks-long investigation, the Service de police de la Ville de Gatineau (SPVG) arrested Dastaan Noor, a resident of Smiths Falls, Ontario, for sexual assault offences. Investigators have reason to fear that the individual may have assaulted more victims, and would like to reach out to them.

At a glance

●	Dastaan Noor, 38 years of age, was arrested in the early afternoon of May 14.

●	Following his arrest, he was remanded in custody, and is to appear before the Court of Quebec to answer to several charges, including: – sexual assault; – obtaining sexual services for consideration; – criminal harassment; and – assault.

●	The alleged offences would have occurred in March 2024.

●	Dastaan Noor's alleged modus operandi, as well as other factors lead investigators to believe there may be other adult victims in Quebec and Ontario.

●	The investigation continues, and further charges may be laid.

Fight against sexual exploitation

●	The SPVG is pursuing its fight against sexual violence, including sexual exploitation and procuring within the Gatineau territory.

In addition to having its own specialized investigators in the area, the SPVG is an integral part of the Escouade intégrée de lutte contre le proxénétisme (EILP), a unified investigation structure consisting of several police organizations working together against procuring, human trafficking for sexual exploitation and child prostitution, both regionally and internationally.
