At a glance
●
At around 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, police intervened in response to a 911 call reporting that shots had been fired and a man was injured near the corner of boulevard Saint-Joseph and boulevard Montclair in Gatineau's Hull sector.
– Good Samaritans had stepped in to help the victim.
●
An emergency response team promptly arrived at the site to help the victim and set up a perimeter to locate the suspect and secure the crime scene.

The victim, a male in his fifties, was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The man, who was not know to the SPVG, unfortunately succumbed to injuries later that day.
●

●
Boulevard Montclair remained closed between boulevard de la Carrière and boulevard Saint-Joseph for several hours to enable police to secure the perimeter. Traffic resumed after 9 p.m. Tuesday.
●
While there were no further reports of gunshots following this attack, the SPVG asked the public to cooperate by avoiding the sector, and by asking residents of the block in question to remain indoors as a preventive measure and to avoid interfering with the police operation.
– The SPVG would like to thank the public for its exemplary cooperation under the circumstances.
●
An autopsy will be done by the Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale in Montréal.
●
No suspect has been arrested at this point. The investigation continues.

The SPVG command post will be in place at the intersection of boulevard Saint-Joseph and boulevard Montclair until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19 to give police the chance to meet with anyone having information about this homicide or the suspect.
– The SPVG reminds everyone that any information, as insignificant as it may seem, could help with the investigation.
