Transfigurations (Pol Turgeon)
Event organized by Ville de Gatineau

Details

Pol Turgeon. Monsieur de Bionval, oil monotype, graphite, gouache and varnish on Stonehenge paper, 28 x 38 cm, 2013–2014.

This exhibition presents a gallery of characters straddling epochs and dimensions. We are faced with a constellation of chimerical beings whose identity seems fluid, continually escaping clear definition: neither entirely human nor entirely animal, often both male and female, contemporary but with a hint of another era. The main source of inspiration for these works was Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres sublime sketches of some of his models. These characters sparked the artist's imagination and allowed him to venture down unmarked paths.

Vernissage on may 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. Everyone is invited, admission is free.
