Municipal council
The municipal council comprises the mayor and 19 municipal councillors, each representing an electoral district. They represent residents, and serve as legislators and administrators. They meet regularly at municipal council meetings and at committee and commission meetings.
Recognized for its quality of life, Gatineau is a city of 291,000 inhabitants. It is located on the north shore of the Ottawa River, and extends east and west of the Gatineau River.
