Household hazardous waste is any toxic, explosive, flammable or corrosive substance or item. It is not accepted in municipal landfills, and must be disposed of in a responsible manner.

  • Aerosols
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries and accumulators (car batteries)
  • Chemical products (acid, glue, thinner, cleaner, solvent, etc.)
  • Chlorine
  • Extinguishers
  • Neon and compact fluorescent bulbs
  • Propane tanks
  • Ink cartridges
  • Medication​
  • Paint, stain, varnish
  • Pesticides
  • Tires
  • Used oil and filters
  • Container, empty or not, with one of the pictograms below. 

How should you dispose of HHW?

  • Take it to an ecocentre, no charge.
  • A number of places accept HHW. Consult DTRITUS.
